I’ve Been Tagged

Nov-30-2007 By Tish

Cara from Cara’s Coffee Break tagged me. I love playing along so here are the questions and my answers.

1. How long have you been blogging?
Oh geesh….about 2 yeas now. I’m pretty sure I started out in 2005 with a blogger blog.

2. What inspired you to start a blog and who are your mentors?
I was hearing a lot about blogs from a bunch of different people so I had to check it out. I figured it would be right up my alley because I have always journaled my whole life and blogging gave me a new avenue for journaling. Lynette Chandler and her Blogging Starter Pack have definitely helped me along the way. And of course I learn from others around me that are blogging and that have blogs I love.

3. Are You trying to make money online, or just doing it for fun?
Both. I do make money online but I also have fun.

4. Tell me 3 things you LOVE about being online. The amazing people I’ve met, the friendships I’ve built and I love having the ‘world’ at my fingertips.

5. Tell me 3 things you STRUGGLE with in the online world. Pulling myself away from the computer and all the interaction I have on a daily basis with all my online friends. Sometimes I feel like I’ve totally forgotten about the ‘outside’ world around me.

And now I’m tagging…YOU :-)

Weeble Wabble

Nov-30-2007 By Tish

You know those Weebles toys? The little people that weeble and wobble all over the place but never topple? I certainly know them well. Not because I’ve been exposed to them lately and not because I waddle & weeble when I walk (ok poking fun at myself about weight probably isn’t the coolest thing…lol) but because I am wavering back and forth about some business changes I need to make.

I already have some changes in plan for 2008 but now I think I want to revive my business blog and keep my personal one separate from business things. Actually it’s not a matter of thinking I want to - it’s a fact that I NEED to.

After all it’s kind of hard to establish yourself as a serious business owner and expert in a market when you have a blog that tells all about life’s little blunders most days and then some days you talk about ’serious’ things such as business.

The problem with wanting to revive my old business blog is that I’m not sure what happened to the content I used to have there. Ok to be honest, I don’t know what I did with that blog…seriously. I don’t remember the domain name, I don’t remember a whole lot about it period. I tried the domain name I thought it was but it isn’t there. At one time I remember thinking I was going to delete it all together…so who knows! Hard telling with me.

But I have decided that I’m going to move my VA website to WordPress, have it redone, start a business blog and we’ll see what other changes I come up with for 2008 :-) I’m kind of excited - HOW FUN!!!

Caleb’s fundraiser this year went well, at least according to his standards. Last year it didn’t go well because he was 9 items shy of the 25 he had to sell to get a ride in a hummer limo. He wanted me to buy the 9 items so he could go for the ride but I told him no. He made it a goal to sell 25 this year so he could get the ride of a lifetime (as he called it).

Well guess what? He was short again this year! So guess who bought enough items to put him at the 25 total? Yup I did (sigh)! But I figured it was worth it…he was getting the once in a lifetime ride of his life and I was supporting the school.

So off to school he went yesterday and I even gave him my digital camera to take so he could get some pictures of the hummer limo. I was hoping for some great shots but of course a 9 year old boy & his friends find ‘weird’ things in a limo appealing compared to what I would snapping pics of.

So here are some of the pics he took…oh and he wasn’t happy that there wasn’t a playstation or xbox or any gaming system in it…and he was disappointed at how ’small’ it was! Good grief Caleb - what more do you want? KIDS!

Oh No My Best Friend!

Nov-28-2007 By Tish

I just got a phone call from my best friends husband…she is in the hospital right now.  There is some things going on that I can’t share about here right now.   I’m heart broken over the fact that I can’t be down there with them…I hate living three hours from her.

If you are reading this - pleas lift her up in prayer.

Alright I’m melancholy all the way!  And anyone that knows what a melancholy personality is knows how easily their feelings get hurt.  And let me just say that you look at me the wrong way and you might just hurt my feelings…I seriously can, and have been, be that sensitive!

I read a couple days ago my friend Kelly’s blog post about if you are melancholy and want to be great you need to accept criticism.  I’ve never been one to to accept criticism in a very graceful sort of way.  Generally someone can tell me something but it always ends in my feelings being hurt and lots of tears being shed.

So I just had to share because I’m really proud of myself.  I had a phone call just a little bit ago and along with it came some criticism.  At first I have to admit my feathers got a little ruffled and I was hurt but when I pushed those feelings away and listened to what she had to say (a lot of times I think a melancholy - at least myself - can easily tune out what they don’t want to hear) I realized how true her words were and that I needed to improve on some things.  And I’m happy to report that no tears were shed, I’m not moping around worrying about what she said and letting it stress me out.  Instead I’m working on my plan of improving things :-)

So I’ve just shown myself that I can accept criticism and now I’m moving on to working towards being great ;-)  And just in case you missed the link to Kelly’s melancholy post you can check it out here.
