Help! How Do I Get Rid Of Them?

Oct-27-2008 By Tish

He’s lucky he’s so darn cute. Because right now I’m ready to get rid of him!

No I’m not talking about Caleb ;-) (Caleb is pretty darned cute though!)

PhotobucketI’m talking about our fur faced ball of energy Spazz. Caleb couldn’t have picked a better name for this kitten let me tell ya. It’s not even his devilish little ‘I’m gonna snuggle up to you and play calm and then attack your face or claw the heck out of you’ ways that have pushed me to the point of wanting to get rid of him.

The point of this post is I don’t know what to do or how to get rid of them.

By them I’m referring to the pesky nasty gross little things that have made their home in Spazz’s fur. Yeah I’m talking fleas. I knew he had to be treated when we got him. The girl told me she had been treating him but I should do it again (and when I gave him his first bath with flea shampoo I was like wow she couldn’t have treated him very good because they were bad!) So I suffered through 2 weeks of Spazz attacking me every single day while I treated him with flea stuff. I thought we were all good to go because he isn’t an outside cat and he seemed to be flea free for a couple weeks.

I saw him digging at his skin this weekend. And sure enough they are back even worse than in the beginning. And it grosses me out but what grossed me out even more was that I found two on Caleb’s blanket! UGH!!!!!

So today I washed every sheet, blanket, pillow case, etc that is in this house. I’m hoping that the wash kills them. I would think it would. But I don’t know what to do about Spazz. I’m treating him again but they don’t seem to be going away and he has parts on his body where he’s dug so much at his skin that it’s left scabs.

What was I thinking getting a kitty that I knew had fleas to begin with?

I honestly thought it was as simple as bathing him in flea shampoo for a couple weeks and that would be that. Why couldn’t it have been that simple?

HELP! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of these pesky disgusting annoying things?????

Oh No He Didn’t…

just say that.

Or did he?

Yep he did.

Yikes! Turn and walk the other way. Scratch that turn and RUN the other way.

PhotobucketOk so now that you are probably confused about those couple sentences let me explain. I’ve dived back into the pool of dating. I’ve went back to the whole online dating thing again. Why? I’m not entirely sure. I guess because I think I’m ready. I’m ready to move past/move on (whatever you wanna call it) from the previous relationship.

But anyways I did and here I am with a gazillion emails coming into my inbox daily with prospective ‘fish’. (And I have to say living in the city has certainly provided more abundance in the ‘fish’ department than anything up North) That should make me happy right? I guess it’s a little exciting but more than anything it’s overwhelming. I almost feel like I need to hire an assistant just to weed through all the emails!

Once I weed out the psycho looking ones, the ones that can’t spell (and I’m not talking just a few minor misspelled words I’m talking they can’t even spell simple words like hello or woman right…you get the point), the ones that don’t have pictures (word to you men out there - if you’re going to use a dating site put a PICTURE up! Hello!) and the ones that just seem freaky I’m finally left with a manageable number of possibilities.

So we move onto talking on the phone or instant messaging. That’s where this post comes into play - a conversation from a few minutes ago. This guy and I have been emailing through the dating site and just moved onto IM conversations and all it took was one conversation to scare me off. Read the rest of this entry »

He Finally Came To His Senses

Oct-14-2008 By Tish

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Caleb’s dad and I had a really long talk Friday night about me having to drive up North every other weekend so he could have Caleb. Not only is it a long drive and expensive (side note: I’m way too excited that gas is down to $2.98 a gallon here!) but it’s not fair.

I have been VERY frustrated with Friend Of the Court. I thought they were here to help the mother and father but I’ve felt everything but helped lately. I have a pretty sour attitude about Friend of the Court lately and how they haven’t helped resolve anything and instead have left me feeling hopeless and running around like a chicken with its head chopped off.

I decided that once again I had to take matters into my own hands. Not that talking is really all that hard or really taking matters into my hands. But I think you get my point. I was so burned out and ticked off by the time I got up North Friday night I wasn’t sure whether to say anything to Caleb’s dad or just let things continue going how they have been. I opted to open my mouth thinking to myself are you dumb or what he’s not going to agree to meeting half-way now if he hasn’t done so yet.

But I talked regardless of that nagging little voice in my head. He listened. Looked me in the eye listened! And much to my surprise he agreed. He agreed to meeting half-way! I was so happy I could have hugged him. I typed up a letter to Friend of the Court and we both signed it and it’s in the mail as of today!

Woo Hoo!

Welcome to city living…I think. And actually I can’t blame it on being in the city because stuff like this happened up North where I used to live. I just had to remind myself that the city provides more opportunities for things like this to happen and yes I know that sounds pretty prejudiced but it’s true.

The Story Behind the Pictures:

This morning I didn’t have to be at my friend B’s house to watch her daughter so Caleb and I got to sleep in until 7:45am. School down here doesn’t start until 9am (well 8:50 to be exact). Anyways Caleb offered to go start the car so it would warm up before we left to take him to school. He gets outside and then knocks on my office window. Of course it annoyed me because I was trying to finish up a quick little VA project. Talk about feeling bad when I go out there to see why he knocked on the window!
