Back Off - This is MY Blog!
I have 18,000 things running through my head right this second so I’m sure this post is going to be one big all over the place, nothing making sense type of post.
Someone made mention to me (again - this is the 2nd time now) that I’m too real, too much of an open book when it comes to my blog. This is what I want to do to them
Ummm excuse me? This is MY blog right? Who are you to tell me I’m too real, too open? And the fact of the matter is, I’m not as real as I could be…believe me! There are LOTS of things that don’t get posted here.
So anyways I kind of got a complex from that and I debated about posting this. Then I decided that this is MY blog. If they don’t like what I write it’s as simple as don’t read it anymore. If they think I’m too real or too open then move on. No skin off my back, except I did let it take skin off my back this time. I let it bother me so much that I debated about writing something on my OWN blog. What’s up with that?
If this was my business blog I wouldn’t post 99% of the stuff I post here. But that was the point of starting a PERSONAL blog, so that I could have an outlet for my thoughts, my frustrations, my bad days, things that were going on in my life as a single mom. I fully intend to continue writing about the things I write about.
I guess I’m just confused as to what they think I’m too open and too real about? Is it because I talk about things like financial worries when stuff comes up? Is it because I talk about the struggles of being a single mom and trying to raise my son on my own with the help of his dad every other weekend? Is it because I talk about Seth and being proud of my soldier? Is it because I talk about sports? Is it because I talk about the sucky school system and all the issues I’ve had with Caleb and this school? Is it because sometimes I rant and rave about something? I just don’t get it. These are all things that make up my life and me. If I didn’t talk about any of that stuff, there wouldn’t be a blog.
This situation reminded me of one of my older posts (and I couldn’t find it cause I don’t remember when I made it or the title of it) about sometimes people just need to keep their mouths shut.
And on Monday I read somewhere that you should write with authority. Well hello what better way to write with authority than to write about my own life? DUH! Ok so that phrase was referring to like business writing, business blogging, etc but for the pure amusement of myself I just had to add it here

Hey - it’s your blog, your rules. You can be as open as you want that is the whole purpose of many blogs today. Your personal on-line journal. They’ll get over it!

You’re right - it’s your blog! Who cares what other people think, people sometimes should really keep their opinions to themselves, lol!

I don’t see how you could be viewed as being “too real” or “too open” Tish. I don’t really see how anyone could on a blog. Unless of course someone was to post all about their favorite postition in bed, I might find that as being too real and too open….or maybe educational, who knows?
You and I have had this discussion before about feeling some people online, Moms specifically, are being phoney. I’m wondering if whoever made these comments about your blog doesn’t really portray themselves online as the “real” them. Maybe it’s their insecurity, maybe they wish they could be more themselves online. Or maybe I just think I’m a shrink.
You just keep being yourself, Girlfriend. Don’t worry about it. This is your blog, do what you will, do what you want!

I found your blog through Yolanda’s recent post about you/your blog.
I’ve read blogs that I didn’t care for. I don’t go back. It’s pretty simple. I didn’t care for it, so I didn’t go back. I can’t imagine writing the owner and saying “I didn’t care for it”. It’s my problem, not theirs. Too funny.
I’ll be back
