Local Soldier Killed in Iraq
My heart goes out to the family that is dealing with the loss of their loved one, PFC John Bishop. (PFC, for those that don’t know, stands for Private First Class…I’m actually learning some of the Army terms finally!) My heart especially goes out to his wife. They were supposed to celebrate their first wedding anniversary in July! I can’t imagine what it must be like to be a widow at such a young age! I guess it doesn’t matter what age you are, it hurts to become a widow no matter what. It just seems so much sadder to me that she is only 21 and he was only 22 – they had their whole lives ahead of them. But it’s a risk he took to fight for our freedom and although I don’t understand how any of our soldiers do what they do – I thank them that they are/were selfless enough to put their lives in danger to fight for our freedom! If you would like to read the newspaper story, you can read it here.
I totally related to the part in the article where it says “I knew,” Diane said, implying she knew something bad happened to her husband. It gave me chills to read that because I’ve experienced this now too. The night before I found out Seth was hurt, just recently, this horrible feeling came over me, deep down in the pit of my stomach just out of the blue. I couldn’t shake it. It gave me goose bumps and the feeling just wouldn’t go away. It took my breath away and suddenly the tears were there. I cried, I prayed, I talked to Tammy. I think it freaked both Tammy and I out when we found out the next day, not even 24 hours afer I had that feeling, that Seth had been wounded. Just as Diane said in the article, I too just ‘knew’. It was weird and I still can’t explain it.
My heart just really goes out to his family and friends!
