The 475 Northbound Flasher
Nov 24
I debated about even writing this post or not. Not because I was afraid to share what happened to me Sunday afternoon but because I’m still a little shocked over the whole incident. It’s one of those things that feels surreal. I keep thinking did that really happen to me?
It was a normal Sunday afternoon. I hopped in my best friend’s husbands car (oh did I mention that one thing I kind of like about having no car is that I’ve been driving around in style with the best friends Jeep and her husbands Fusion. LOL) and joined the traffic on 475 North. It was relatively ‘quiet’, meaning not a whole lot of traffic to join for my 2 hour drive North to meet the ex and pickup my little man.
There I was cruising along at 78 miles (I always set the cruise at 78 for some reason…LOL) an hour minding my own business yelling singing along to Madonna (yes you read that correctly…Madonna) when I noticed a blue pickup next to me. I saw a vehicle come up beside of me I never pay attention because usually they are there and then gone in a split second. Not this time. After several minutes of this pickup truck staying right beside me I glanced up. I was greeted with a wave of the hand and a great smile. I won’t lie – he was cute and he was flirting and I was totally digging it. How fun to be flirted with driving 80 miles an hour down the expressway right?
Wrong. He continued to stay right next to me and every so often I’d glance up and be greeted with that great smile. I started to get a little creeped out so I picked up my cell phone and called my sister. I thought maybe he’d see that I was preoccupied (obviously the fact that we were driving 80 miles an hour wasn’t a big deal to him) and move away from the lane next to me. I couldn’t get over because I was in the left lane and he was right next to me. I did try slowing down once but he just slowed down right with me.
So I’m chatting on the cell with my sister telling her about what’s going on when I happen to glance over again. This time I wasn’t greeted with a great smile but a hand gesture referring to my boobs and then a thumbs up sign. Sharing with my sister what had just happened I just kind of laughed and shrugged it off. It isn’t the first man that’s made reference to my ‘girls’ and it probably won’t be the last.
A few seconds later I look over only to see him holding a sign up in the window that says in big bold black letters CAN I FLASH YOU? I turn my eyes back to the road and tell my sister what had just happened. As I’m chit chatting with her to keep myself busy and occupied he apparently was busy too. I had no intention of looking back up at that truck but when you hear a horn beeping it’s kind of an instant reaction to turn your head in that direction.
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. How I didn’t get in a wreck when I saw this man showing me his penis is beyond me. I was disgusted and creeped out. And as fast as it happened it was over and he was putting on his brakes, slowing down and merging over to the right lane where he preceded to get off at the next exit.
I was totally weirded out for the rest of my trip North and then all the way heading back South. Every time a truck came up next to me I tensed up expecting it to be the freak again. Thankfully I didn’t see him again and I doubt I ever will see him again.
I’m still in shock over the whole incident and I can’t believe it happened. I mean I can’t believe that someone would do that. I’ve heard of flashers before but not at 80 miles an hour on the express way. I’m pretty sure I won’t ever forget the incident no matter how hard I try to put it out of my mind.

Why do all the cute ones turn out to be freakshows? What a waste.
