The Hunt is on!

May-9-2008 By Tish

For something that should be a simple process - finding and purchasing a sports bra - it sure is turning into a nightmare!

Come on now…I’m not the only woman in the world that plays sports and needs something to support my girls! And I also happen to know that I’m not the only ‘large’ chested woman in the world playing sports in desperate need of something to support those ‘girls’ of mine.

So tell me…why is it so cotton picking stinking hard to find a sports bra?

Forget Wal-Mart, they don’t even carry my size tent bra but of course wanting to take the least expensive route, I figured I’d give it a shot. What a joke! Let’s just say I am currently attempting to use one of those from Wal-Mart and it certainly isn’t doing it’s trick. Honestly I’m surprised I’m not sporting a couple black eyes from the lack of support this particular bra has (at least for me anyways…I’m sure for someone with ‘regular’ sized ‘girls’ it works just fine and dandy). And seriously what was I thinking? I mean come on now, why would I even posses the thought that an $8.00 bra would support my girls??? Yeah obviously I wasn’t thinking!

It’s been 2 weeks since I’ve started softball and it’s not pleasant having a sports bra that isn’t doing anything for me and my girls. (side note - how the heck did my boobs ever get named the girls??? I have no stinking clue where that came from. Speaking of nicknames…in highschool when I played softball my team mates nicknamed me Titsa & that was actually thanks to my mother opening her big mouth to one of my friends! Thanks mom!). When my friend Angel and I were running I would just hold my arms over my chest while we ran but hello I’m playing softball here…in front of lots of people I’m not about to use that tactic! No way no how!

Anyways…

I have found a couple that look like they might be worth giving a try. At this point, I don’t have a choice I need something better than the cheap Wal-Mart one. I found this one at Fashion Bug for $18.00 but I have to say that it doesn’t look like it will provide much more support than the Wal-Mart one. Then I found this ultrasonic sports bra at Lane Bryant but it’s $38.00 stinking dollars! It has underwire support which could be just what I need, I don’t know! I also found another one at Lane Bryant but it’s even more expensive, coming in at $48.00 and not that I’m going for the ‘looks’ of a sports bra but for $48 you would think it would be a lot cuter than what it is.

I have a feeling that I’m going to have to go with one of the more expensive ones in order to get the support that me and my ‘girls’ need. UGH! I really am not thrilled about the thought of paying that kind of money for a sports bra. I don’t mind paying $30.00 for a regular bra cause those are at least cute somewhat cute. I have an issue with forking out that kind of money for something I don’t even know if it will provide me with what I need. Wasting $8.00 on a Wal-Mart brand one wasn’t bad but it makes me sick to think of forking over more than $20 for a silly sports bra.

And people wonder why I hate being large chested…because it’s a pain in the arse! Honestly I wish I would of had a breast reduction when I had the chance several years ago! Oh well I suppose you live and learn.

Ok now I know I’ve fallen off my rocker because I’m sharing with the world my sports bra dilemma! Seriously that’s sad…but kind of funny too.

  1. Christina Said,

Good luck in your quest! I would say go with the more expensive one and take REAL good care of it so it lasts a long while.

    Tishia,
Yes, you need a really good Sports Bra. I started out with some terrible ones form Wal-Mart but got lucky when I found Bestform High Impact Sports Bra at Wal-Mart (haven’t seen them there since though and online they are out of stock, go figure). BUT I did find them at http://www.bestformintimates.com/products/style/5006593. Not sure if that will work for you but it’s the kind I have and I love them. I do kickboxing and all other workouts in them. Definitely get the support I need.

I totally understand the sportsbra dilemma! I too have not been able to find one I love. Yeah I might be regular size if you can call it that but I still can’t find one. I’m not looking for one for sports per say but for support…my girls are Old..lol…and they need lots of lifting…lol! Im looking for a back closure; not a pull over the head one and not a uniboob one! Not easy to find!

  6. Stefani Partin Said,

Good question Tishia! I have never worn a sports bra so I can’t help ya on this one.
