When Your Child Has a Broken Heart

Dec 03

I’m still adjusting to the kiddo living at his dad and step moms full-time.  I have to admit sometimes it’s nice not having to get up at the crack of dawn to make sure he’s up and getting ready for school. Sometimes it’s nice not having the nightly homework battles that we used to have. And speaking of homework, I definitely do NOT miss middle school math that used to make me feel dumber than a box of rocks because there was stuff I couldn’t figure out ;-) But there are definitely times I would gladly go back to all that stuff just to have him with me 24/7.

Anyways…this post is about my son having his first ‘real’ broken heart because of a girl. He’s had a ‘girlfriend’ for a little over a month and they broke up yesterday (Friday). He was really upset about it and I was too. It breaks my heart that my kiddo is hurting and there’s nothing I can do. And it was really frustrating that he wouldn’t tell me what happened. Instead his answer was “mom, you don’t need to know what happened!” But I do…I want to know what happened to cause the breakup that is causing my kiddo heartbreak. I know what heartbreak feels like…Lord do I ever. I’ve had enough broken hearts for a gazillion people. But this time it’s way worse than any I’ve ever had because I can’t fix it for my kiddo.

So…I guess here enters in the beginning of teenage drama and more broken hearts to come. Think I better stock up on some wine ;-)

Until next time…

  1. so sorry to hear about C’s first heartbreak… luckily it hasn’t happened yet here , but I know it will one day. Give him a hug from us and “S” says hang in there buddy.

Yep stock up on the wine (and don’t forget the chocolate too). Maybe now we’ll have to have regular online chats again as a teenage support group LOL
