Mommyfest was a lot of fun and I truly enjoyed the blog party and the memes I participated in. I entered the What I’ve Learned Since I Became a Mom contest and I won :-) I’ve won a cool Travel Tote filled with the perfect beach essentials from Tracy at AboveAllTravel.com

Thanks Marie for a great Mommyfest and thanks Tracy for providing the prize I won :-)

What I’ve Learned Since I Became a Mom

Monday, May 12th, 2008

I couldn’t help but play along in this contest. Actually it wasn’t even the fact that it was a contest that made me want to play along, it was just because I’ve learned so much since becoming a mom and wanted to share it :-)

What I’ve learned since I became a Mom:

This could seriously turn into a book but I won’t bore you all to death so I’ll keep it short and sweet, or at least I’ll try to ;-)

I was 23 when I had Caleb, not super young but a lot younger than I planned on having a child. At 23 I was pretty selfish, life was all about me. I liked to party all night, sleep all day and do what I wanted when I wanted. So I guess the first thing I learned was that life wasn’t all about me anymore. Suddenly I had this precious bundle of joy (that I wasn’t thinking was so precious when he woke up screaming at 2am, 3am, etc and expected me to be awake enough to function to feed him and change him cause Lord knows his dad certainly wouldn’t crawl out of bed to do it!) that was relying on me to provide for him. That was kind of scary.

Mommyfest Blog Party - Let the Fun Begin

Monday, May 12th, 2008

I’ve never done a blog party before so this is going to be fun and I’m looking forward to meeting the other moms taking part in the party too. You can head on over here to find out all the details if you would like to participate. The first part of playing along is posting an introduction so here you go, my introduction.

Who am I?

Well let’s see…I’m a single mom with 1 child, a boy (Caleb and he is 9) who is my pride & joy. I consider myself to have a wonderful sense of humor, I try to see the lighter side of life & make the best of everything. I’m full of random thoughts, I laugh at things that happened yesterday, I like to smile, I love to giggle, I like to act silly and goofy and just have fun and enjoy life.

I’m also a work at home mom. I’ve been working from home full time as a Virtual Assistant since Jan 2006. I love blogging and have been doing it for a couple years now but this is the first blog party I’ve ever participated in!

What else can I tell you about myself?

I’m a complete neat freak and love cleaning! Yes I said love! I have a couple pet peeves that drive me bonkers and I get laughed at because they are such silly things - bread crumbs in my butter and how toilet paper is put on the holder.

I’m a proud Army girlfriend to Seth who is deployed in Iraq right now and I’m so blessed to have him in my life.

Some random things about me:

I’m a NASCAR fan (go Dale Jr, Tony Stewart & Jeff Gordon!), I love baseball (Go Tigers, Sox & Yankees), I watch football even though I don’t understand it, I like Hockey (go Red Wings), I recently became addicted to Guitar Hero III, I love to dance even though I suck at it, I love my iPod, I love music, I love reading, I love writing, I like road trips, I love camping & the smell of camp fire, I like four wheelers, I like mudding, I want to have more kids, I love my crazy family & friends, I started playing softball again just a couple weeks ago after 8 years of not playing!, I love taking walks, I like thunderstorms if the thunder isn’t too loud, I love Adam Sandler movies, I love country music, I’m a reality TV junkie, I like Bud Light, I love wearing baseball caps and before my list gets 10 pages long I’ll end with saying that I love the friendships I’ve built online over the couple years I’ve been working from home.

There ya have it - me in a nutshell.
