It’s 3:57am (yes I’m still up) and I was just getting ready to shut down for the night when my feedreader window popped up showing me that my friend Kelly McCausey’s blog had a new post. 

As soon as I saw the title of it I had to go read her post.  Kelly’s post took me to a page on Jason Moffat’s blog http://www.jasonmoffatt.com/dir/239 where he shared a video about a single mom of 4 with an abusive boyfriend that is in need of some help. 

It totally tugged at my heart not just because she’s a single mom going through this but because I’ve been in an abusive relationship before (although thakfully my situation was never as severe as hers!) and hearing about her story brought back memories.  I was 18 at the time and so in ‘love’ that I didn’t want to leave him even though I knew that being kicked, slapped and then choked wasn’t right.  I knew that it wasn’t right but when you’re young and stupid (or naive whatever you want to call it) and seeking love in all the wrong places you tend to put up with more than you should regardless of the consequences.  The choking incident was the last straw & a PPO was placed against him but it didn’t keep him from stalking me - the harassing phone calls, having friends drive by my house, having friends call me, etc, etc.  Thankfully when my best friend and I moved out of town to go to college he left me alone and my horror was over.
